The skirt has no waistband, and it runs super huge. Based on envelope measurements, I added extra room at the waist but dadgum, it was so big I had to cut it down at each seam. I had suspected that was going to be the case so I actually basted it together first. Could it be my sewing instincts are improving?

Once the sizing issue was resolved I added a side invisable zip and lined it with black Ambiance rayon. I like to cut my lining with pinking shears and leave it unhemmed. Fast but not sloppy.
The fabric is a very accomodating hopsack woven in Tobacco. Which isn't brown or beige, just a lovely shade of . . . tobacco! Purchased on sale at Joann's late last winter, intended for a pair of palazzo pants. But the pants passion never arrived so the fabric aged for a while. SO glad it did.
This is a Perfect Summer Into Fall Skirt due its combination of fabric type/color/shape. It will be very servicable running errands paired with a smart white v-neck tee and sandals, or a more tailored shell and colorful scarf for church. The only drawback is that it's rather heavy. But as least I don't feel so exposed like a lot of other skirts can make you feel.
As I have previously mentioned, I live where it's hot about 7 months out of the year, so skirts like this are very necessary. Yes, it's sportswear, but to quote Michael Kors: "My god, this is how people dress!" So true.
