Snatching time to sew

Some nights I only have an hour before exhaustion from the day sets in. Sewing when you're tired invites disaster. There was the mobius strip that was supposed to be a bodice, seams sewn wrong sides together and zippers mangled beyond description. So if one good hour is all I can manage, then it's enough.

Right now I'm working on the little jacket in Simplicity 3874 using the brown daisy eyelet from Metro Textiles. Since I'm french seaming, extra mental power is required and it's slow going in the evenings. To date I've sewn the side seams and set in the sleeves without incident and it looks great. Next comes the gathering. I bought a gathering foot but I'm not convinced this eyelet will feed properly so I may need to resort to the old pulled thread thing (hate, hate hate that techniquet). Then comes the neckband which I plan to interface with black knit interfacing, a first.

It may all come together this weekend, or it could extend into August. Who knows? Summer lasts until October in Mississippi. So what's my hurry?
